Frequently asked questions

How are generators different from the model library?

In the model library you pick one box and then adjust it. A generator starts from your space and your printer and creates the whole set at once, sized to fit and split so every part prints on your bed.

What if my space is bigger than my printer bed?

The generator splits the design to your bed size: a drawer becomes several bins, a wall becomes several pegboard tiles with connectors, and every part prints on its own.

Can I download the files for free?

Every generator has default layouts you can download for free, even after changing the printer bed. Exporting a layout with a changed structure costs $1.90 once, or is included in a subscription. Planning and the 3D preview are always free.

How is the drawer organizer different from the Gridfinity generator?

The drawer organizer splits your drawer into bins sized to fit, with no baseplate and less filament. The Gridfinity generator uses the standard 42 mm grid: a baseplate plus bins that work with any Gridfinity baseplate or bin and can be rearranged any time.

What else do I need?

Drawer bins simply sit in the drawer. Pegboards are screwed to the wall by default; the print plan lists the screws and wall plugs you need.
